Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness
The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at The National Trade Centre at Exhibition
Place on October 9th, 2002 for the "Festival of Ontario" which honoured
Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee Celebration. The Royal Party embarked
on a walking tour of The National Trade Centre, which featured exhibits,
demonstrations and performances, illustrating Ontario's achievements
throughout the past 50 years of the Queen's reign.
The National Trade Centre was chosen as the venue for this event so
that the diversity and tremendous accomplishments of the people of
Ontario could be brought together at one time under one roof. The
National Trade Centre has won a reputation of facility excellence
throughout the world and has been selected as the venue for visits
by world leaders, dignitaries and business magnates, since its opening
in 1997. As Headquarters for the World Youth Days Conference, July
2002, The National Trade welcomed His Holiness Pope John Paul II.
Ernest Vincent, General Manager of The National Trade Centre confirmed
that "2002 has been a particularly significant year of international
accomplishments for both The National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place
and the City of Toronto. We have succeeded, and will continue to succeed,
at hosting special events and trade and consumer shows from all parts
of the globe. We have proven ourselves to be an international centre
operating in a world-class city."
The numerous awards for facility excellence and the distinction of
hosting such prominent people and events mark The National Trade Centre
as a prominent world-class venue. Encompassing over 1 million square
feet of connected, usable space, The National Trade Centre hosts over
180 events per year including trade and consumer show clients such
as: Reed Exhibition's Canadian Machine Tool Show, Truck World, Messe
Frankfurt's ISH North America, dmg world media's National Home Show,
and the Toronto International Boat Show.
The National Trade Centre is professionally managed by O&Y/SMG Canada,
a Canadian company offering management services to convention and
trade centres, arenas, stadiums and theatre across the country. O&Y/SMG
