Toronto's National Trade Centre is Host to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Golden Jubilee Celebration

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at The National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place on October 9th, 2002 for the "Festival of Ontario" which honoured Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee Celebration. The Royal Party embarked on a walking tour of The National Trade Centre, which featured exhibits, demonstrations and performances, illustrating Ontario's achievements throughout the past 50 years of the Queen's reign.

The National Trade Centre was chosen as the venue for this event so that the diversity and tremendous accomplishments of the people of Ontario could be brought together at one time under one roof. The National Trade Centre has won a reputation of facility excellence throughout the world and has been selected as the venue for visits by world leaders, dignitaries and business magnates, since its opening in 1997. As Headquarters for the World Youth Days Conference, July 2002, The National Trade welcomed His Holiness Pope John Paul II.

Ernest Vincent, General Manager of The National Trade Centre confirmed that "2002 has been a particularly significant year of international accomplishments for both The National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place and the City of Toronto. We have succeeded, and will continue to succeed, at hosting special events and trade and consumer shows from all parts of the globe. We have proven ourselves to be an international centre operating in a world-class city."

The numerous awards for facility excellence and the distinction of hosting such prominent people and events mark The National Trade Centre as a prominent world-class venue. Encompassing over 1 million square feet of connected, usable space, The National Trade Centre hosts over 180 events per year including trade and consumer show clients such as: Reed Exhibition's Canadian Machine Tool Show, Truck World, Messe Frankfurt's ISH North America, dmg world media's National Home Show, and the Toronto International Boat Show.
