Mayor Mel Lastman,
host of the first annual Business Appreciation Dinner, today honoured
O&Y/SMG Canada for its outstanding contribution and investment
in Toronto's economy during 1999. As Manager of the City-owned tradeshow
facility The National Trade Centre, O&Y/SMG Canada's sales &
management efforts have resulted in the generation of over $237 million
in economic impact (new spending) to the City of Toronto for the events
held in 1998.
Mr. Ron Taylor, Managing Director of O&Y/SMG Canada, was among
more than 200 business representatives who attended the ceremony at
the Metropolitan Hotel in downtown Toronto. Taylor accepted a special
plaque signed by Mayor Lastman. Councillors Brian Ashton and Michael
Feldman, Chair of the Economic Development & Parks Committee and
Vice-Chair respectively, were on hand to present the awards.
O&Y/SMG Canada is a Canadian company offering management services
to convention and trade centres, arenas, stadiums and theatres across
the country. The National Trade Centre is Canada's largest tradeshow
facility with over one million square feet of exhibition space. |
